Mohamed Elsawi worked for years as a human rights lawyer in Egypt, before coming to the United States in order to fuse his passion for human rights and social justice with his passion for films. He went to film school in Santa Barbara and since graduating has directed four short documentaries and the full-length feature “The University of Nuclear Bombs” (2010). The film, directed and produced by Joshua King Ortiz and Mohamed Elsawi, was officially selected to the 25th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, and it was nominated for The Fund For Santa Barbara Social Justice Award.
